The New Albany Boys capped off an impressive 2010 season by finishing a program best 11th at the Division 1 State Meet. Competing against the toughest teams in the state of Ohio, in a race where 27 runners broke 16:00, and 113 runners broke the 17:00 mark, the Eagles improved greatly on their 2009 15th place finish. Blake Taneff led the Eagles with a 14th overall finish (accounting for 9 points). This finish earned Blake All-Ohio honors where he joined 6 other Central Ohio runners. Sebastian Matt ran a personal best 16:10 to finish 44th. He was the 17th underclassmen to finish the race. Austin Bach also matched a personal best in 16:37. Tom Newton (16:44) and Alex Stanislav (17:08) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. Also competing for the second year in a row was Drew Rose (17:12) and making his first state meet experience was Andrew Ziminski (18:00).
Louisville won the state title by one point over Medina. Dublin Coffman finished fourth behind St. Ignatius, while Reynoldsburg (9th) and Westerville North (15th) both both put individuals on the podium in addition to their team successes.
In addition, Mirra Galbreath represented the girls team with a 31st place finish. Coming into the stadium in position to earn All-Ohio honors, Mirra just missed finishing in the top 25 but finished as the 5th overall girl from the Central Ohio area. The girls program is very excited as all Varsity runners are expected to return for the 2011 season.
