Cross Country Banquet Information
The 2010 Cross Country Banquet will be held on Tuesday November 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the high school mini-theater. Light refreshments (dessert and drinks) will be provided, but we will not be having dinner as in previous years. We ask that all athletes arrive at 6:15 p.m. for pictures and boys where a shirt and tie and girls wear the female equivalent of a shirt and tie. See you Tuesday!
Eagle Boys 11th at State Meet; Galbreath Finishes 31st
The New Albany Boys capped off an impressive 2010 season by finishing a program best 11th at the Division 1 State Meet. Competing against the toughest teams in the state of Ohio, in a race where 27 runners broke 16:00, and 113 runners broke the 17:00 mark, the Eagles improved greatly on their 2009 15th place finish. Blake Taneff led the Eagles with a 14th overall finish (accounting for 9 points). This finish earned Blake All-Ohio honors where he joined 6 other Central Ohio runners. Sebastian Matt ran a personal best 16:10 to finish 44th. He was the 17th underclassmen to finish the race. Austin Bach also matched a personal best in 16:37. Tom Newton (16:44) and Alex Stanislav (17:08) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. Also competing for the second year in a row was Drew Rose (17:12) and making his first state meet experience was Andrew Ziminski (18:00).
Louisville won the state title by one point over Medina. Dublin Coffman finished fourth behind St. Ignatius, while Reynoldsburg (9th) and Westerville North (15th) both both put individuals on the podium in addition to their team successes.
In addition, Mirra Galbreath represented the girls team with a 31st place finish. Coming into the stadium in position to earn All-Ohio honors, Mirra just missed finishing in the top 25 but finished as the 5th overall girl from the Central Ohio area. The girls program is very excited as all Varsity runners are expected to return for the 2011 season.

Eagle Boys Qualify to State; Mirra Galbreath Qualifies as an Individual
The New Albany Boys Cross Country Team qualified as a team to the 2010 Division 1 State Meet. Running at Pickerington North High School, the boys clinched fourth place to earn a second straight trip to Scioto Downs. The boys scored 125 points to finish behind first place Westerville North - 69 points, Reynoldsburg - 71 points, and Dublin Coffman 79 points. Leading the Eagles on Saturday were Blake Taneff and Sebastian Matt who finished 5th and 9th in the scoring. Austin Bach finished 16th in the scored race, while Drew Rose and Tom Newton rounded out the scoring with 44 and 45 points. This will be the second consecutive year that the boys represent New Albany against the best of the best in the state of Ohio. They will be looking to improve on last year's 15th place finish.
In addition, Mirra Galbreath qualified as an individual on Saturday as the girls team finished 6th place overall. Running a time of 19:22, Mirra finished 9th overall. Other top finishers this past Saturday were Catherine Ralston - 21st, Eliza Matt - 34th, Lexi Simpson - 49th, and Bry Zuiderweg - 52nd. Though disappointed with not qualifying to the state meet, the girls gained valuable experience and return all Varsity runners next season.
