Eagles Win Tiger Invitational!

Congratulations to the varsity boys for their 1st place finish at the Pickerington Central Tiger Invitational. Competing against 14 other teams on a muddy rainy day, the Eagles finished with 67 points, finishing ahead of Hilliard Davidson (82) and Westerville South (84). Top Eagle finishers were the following:

Blake Taneff - 16:44 (overall winner of Varsity race - Congratulations Blake!)
Sebastian Matt - 17:56 (12th place)
Austin Bach - 18:07 (15th place)
Drew Rose - 18:11 (16th place)
Tom Newton - 18:22 (23rd place)
Kraig Manion - 19:27 (59th place)
Alex Stanislav - 19:55 (67th place)

In addition, the Reserve team (83 points) finished 3rd out of 17 teams finishing behind Pickerington North (32 points) and Gahanna Lincoln (74 points).

This weekend, the boy's team will be returning to Pickerington North High School where they ran earlier in the year. The bus will be leaving at 10:00 and the boy's should report to the school at 9:45. The varsity race starts at 12:00 and the reserve race takes place at 1:15.

Life Lessons of Cross Country - Run Ohio

25 days to OCC Championships...

The New Albany Cross Country team competed in two events this past week. On Wednesday 9/16, the Junior Varsity team competed against 4 other schools at the Northridge Invitational. Placing 2nd overall and leading the Eagles to a team victory was Drew Rose in a time of 18:04.

On Saturday 9/19, the Varsity and Reserve Teams competed at the Central Ohio Invitational hosted by Bishop Hartley. Some highlights of this past weekend are as follows:

• Boy's Varsity - 5th out of 11 teams. 37 points out of first (Westerville Central 62 pts.) and only 17 points out of 2nd. Team Average of 17:08.
  
• Boy's Reserve - 1st out 13 teams. Team Average of 18:27 (better than last year's varsity!)
• Congratulations to 2 of our freshman. Drew Rose won the Reserve race in 17:33, while Austin Bach (4th for varsity in 17:30) was named Most Outstanding Freshman.
  
• Competing against two league teams, the score versus Big Walnut as a dual would have been New Albany - 24 pts., Big Walnut - 37 pts. Against Olentangy Orange, the score would have been New Albany - 15 pts., Olentangy Orange - 50 pts.
  

This week the boy's and girl's cross country teams will be competing at the Pickerington Central Tiger Invitational. The schedule will go as follows:

• Report to school: 9:00 a.m.
• Bus Leaves: 9:15 a.m.
• Reserve Warm-Up: 10:10
• Reserve Race: 11:00
• Varsity Warm-Up: 11:30
• Varsity Race: 12:20
• Leave Pickerington: approximately 1:15
• Return to NAHS: 2:00 p.m.

32 days to OCC Championships!

With only 32 days until the OCC Championships, the Eagles are showing great improvement from a year ago. This past weekend the Eagles ran at the Watkins Memorial Invitational finishing 11th out of 29 teams in the Varsity Division, 4th out of 29 in the Reserve Race, and 9th out of 20 in the Open Division. The varsity finished with a team time average of 17:30 (reserve: 18:38/Open: 20:08). This week, the Junior Varsity will be competing at the Northridge Invitational on Wednesday September 16th with race time at 5:30 p.m. Students should report to the school by 3:45 with the bus leaving at 4:00 p.m. Any Varsity runner not running at this meet needs to report to practice at 2:45 p.m. The following individuals will be running at this meet:
