District Champs!


The boys and girls cross country teams brought home two district champion trophies on Saturday afternoon winning their respective races at Watkins Memorial High School. It was an exciting day for the boys and girls of both programs.

The boys team won their 2nd District Championship in as many years beating state ranked Reynoldsburg 42-48. The first five boys all earned All Central District honors after finishing in the top 16 of the race. The 7 runners who competed on Saturday were:

Blake Taneff - 2nd overall - 15:43 (personal record)
Sebastian Matt - 6th overall - 16:16
Tom Newton - 9th overall - 16:32 (personal record)
Austin Bach - 12th overall - 16:37 (personal record)
Alex Stanislav - 13th overall - 16:39 (personal record)
Drew Rose - 31st overall - 17:15
Andrew Ziminski - 44th overall - 17:41

The girls team won their first District Championship since entering Division 1. They upset Dublin Scioto by a score of 38-66. Top finishers for the girls were the following:

Mirra Galbreath - 2nd overall - 19:12
Catherine Ralston - 3rd overall - 19:29
Lexi Simpson - 4th overall - 19:34
Eliza Matt - 12th overall - 19:58
Bryana Zuiderweg - 13th overall - 20:03
Kenia Viezcas - 36th overall - 21:21
Katie Washington - 45th overall - 21:43

Both teams will be competing at the Division 1 Regional Championships at Pickerington North on Saturday. The boys will be running at 12:35 and the girls will compete at 2:50 p.m. The top 4 teams from the 16 team field advance to the State Meet at Scioto Downs Raceway on Saturday November 6th.
